This starter take about 5-7 before it should be used.


1 cup AP flour
1 cup luke warm water 100-110 degrees
1 tsp sugar

Cooking Instructions

Mix flour, water and sugar in a glass or plastic bowl DO NOT use a metal bowl, this could kill your starter.

Placed mixed contents in a glass container.
Make sure you container can hold twice as much as what you have made. Cover and set aside in a warm place.
Stir your mixture once each day, cover and sit aside.
between 48 to 72 hours. You should start seeing bubbles in the mixture. Once you see this it is time to feed your starter.
Too feed your starter remove 1/2 cu of starter and discard it. Mix in 1/2 cup water (100-110 degrees) and 1/2 cup AP flour into remaining starter. Do not worry about lumps. Do this everyday for the next 3 days. After each feeding it will take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours for your starter to become frothy (bubbly) again. Starter will double in size.
After your last feeding wait 2 to 5 hours before using your starter. Remove the amount of starter needed for your recipe. If you need more starter than you have simply add enough water and flour at the feeding before you use your starter.
Your starter needs to be feed every 3 days wither or not you are using it.

If at anytime your starter becomes green or orange in color DO NOT USE IT, DISCARD IT and start again.

HOOCH - If your starter develops a liquid on top of it, this is called 'hooch'. You can choose to either mix it back into the starter of poor it off and discard it. Hooch is a natural occurrence during the fermentation process.
