1/4 cup butter or oil
1/4 cup flour
2 cups broth, * see note
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon pepper, or to taste

* May be Chicken, Beef or Turkey drippings mixed with enough canned broth to make 2 cups.

Cooking Instructions

heat butter or oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and mix together until no lumps are visible. Add salt and pepper. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5-10 minutes or until mixture starts to turn almond color . Turn heat to low and slowly add broth, stirring constantly. Turn heat back up to medium and continue cooking and stirring until gravy boils and thickens. Adjust seasonings to taste.
